We already told you that Sony decided to bring back to the market one of the most legendary of its products – the charming robot-dog Aibo. Visitors to the technological exhibition CES 2018, which is currently hosting guests in Las Vegas, was lucky to see the updated version of the Japanese robot live. And, which is quite expected, everyone saw everything without exclusion. We suggest you also see what awaits the buyers of this unusual pet.
Sony’s press conference at CES 2018 was incredibly short and restrained. President Kazuo Hirai reported on the success of the Japanese corporation, said that in the future fans of Sony are waiting for brand-new products and gadgets, and also under the stormy applause of the audience presented the public with a new version of the robot Aibo (model ERS-1000). The charming dog melted the hearts of not only those present at the presentation of journalists, but also ordinary visitors of the exhibition. Still would! Just look at these photos – how can you resist and not be touched?
The renewed Aibo design has become even more rounded and pleasing to the eye. Of all the people present in the room, the robot is able to recognize its owner in person and listen carefully to its voice commands. Representatives of Sony argue that the robot is able to form an emotional connection with all members of the family in which he lives. Eyes Aibo are made in the form of two round OLED-displays, which can be covered with artificial eyelids. The look at the puppy became really alive and fascinating.
The Aibo body uses for movement a lot of ultra-compact actuators, allowing its body parts to move around 22 axes. Given the huge amount of electronics, which stuffed the dog’s body, the battery charge is only enough for a couple of hours. After that, the dog goes to his docking station, where he will rest and recharge for three hours. Aibo adapts to people, constantly exploring the surrounding space, looking for things that make him happy, and gradually learning new tricks, constantly evolving.
All the owner’s data will be stored by his owners in the cloud, and for management Aibo will be able to use not only voice commands and gestures, but also a mobile application My Aibo. In the application you can configure the robot, see the photos taken by its built-in camera, and download from the official store various new tricks and skills. The only good thing to add to this is the high cost of the robot – about $ 1,700 (so far only the Japanese price is just known – 198,000 yen), as well as the need to pay a monthly subscription of about $ 26 (subscription is needed to support the cloud storage and other important functions ).
But even the high price did not prevent many visitors of the exhibition from wanting to buy this expensive toy. In Japan, pre-orders for Aibo began to be collected in November last year . The first happy buyers will receive their dogs on January 11, that is, the other day. While Sony does not say anything about when the robot will go on sale in other countries of the world.
